Development

Following my dome design, I am now looking into creating more of a space where the you can feel the light as an element and not just see it. By using the same dome shape, I am going to let it open up to flood light into the space - having it open up at at sunrise and close at sun set. This is in coordination with my client and her sleeping patterns as she allows the natural light to wake her up. By flooding the area with natural light and having the dome open up at the top, instead of it being the light source for the house, I want to create a smaller space that is sorely for the light and creates an atmospherical feeling. From the previous design, the cog in the centre of the dome is not necessary any more, as it would just act as a shadow creator and block out potential for maximum sun light. The opening will open at the certain sun times each day and would stay open no matter what the weather conditions. My client enjoys the natural light and the natural aspects including the conditions, therefore if it rains, the rain will come into the space, falling straight down the tube.

This would be the type of material and therefore effect that would be inside the space. Draping from the top of the cone shaped space, down towards the floor where you can lie, sit, stand and enjoy the unique and light that flows through the material, from the dome at the top positioned directly inline with the suns path at 20 Wallace Street.

This sketch is the house, but with cuts throughout the walls, running directly through, making it appear to have been cut with a lightsaber. The image below is an example of this, as the same adea has been made, or thought of before.
